So the pacific northwest (pnw) has a pretty damn distinct style.
If you're not from here, then what you're mental imaging is probably pretty accurate, at least for where I am in Olympia. Lots of plaid and flannel, earthy tones, funky thrift-shop looking stuff.
Normally I stick out pretty hardcore from this with my bright colors, heels, and general Mariah-type apparel. I get some looks from time to time at Evergreen (which is a pretty granola school), but when I saw this coat on ModCloth, I knew that I had to have it. It's so northwest, so Evergreen! I snatched it up on super sale and sadly I don't think you can get it there anymore.
When I popped my hat on with this I felt positively blended, but still funky and myself. It's pretty great. Of course I threw on a sequined sweater, so it was still me in the end. A girl has to have her sparkle.

I firmly believe in wearing whatever the hell you want, as long as it makes you feel good. However, I also believe that there is nothing wrong with incorporating pieces into your wardrobe that you wouldn't normally wear. Take inspiration from what's around you and make it your own.
This jacket is nothing I would have ever initially worn, but now I am so in love with it, I've been wearing it pretty much everywhere.
Love,
Rya Pie
Love this fun and funky look- especially the coat!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! The coat is definitely one of my new favorite pieces! (:
