21st Birthday Party

Sunday, January 5, 2014

It's always strange for me when I hit a landmark birthday. When I turned 18 everyone was all excited about being able to see rated R movies, buying lottery tickets, smoke, being an adult, etc. but for me it was just a big, "so what?" It's not that I don't find birthdays exciting, because my birthday is my favorite day of the year, I just never understood the huge urge to suddenly, with reckless abandon, do all the things you are now legally able to do, like a big middle finger to the fact that the laws were stopping you before. It's beyond me.
I went into my 21st knowing that I didn't want to get shitty, or anything remotely close to it, at midnight, and I definitely wanted to remember the weekend as a whole.
So I decided to have my birthday before I actually turned 21, so that the next day I could do my 21 run and still get to celebrate with my friends who are under aged.
These photos are from my party, which has to have been one of my favorites I've ever had. It was a chill group of people just eating some junky party food and talking it up. My kind of party. Plus I knew everyone, so that was nice. Oh! And my theme was pink lemonade because pink and yellow are my two favorite colors (yellow first, of course).
Without further babbling, here's a little peak into my life.

It seemed only appropriate to start and end my photos for you with my best friend Kaitlyn. This girl is really just amazing. My other half I'd even dare to say. She always knows how to make me smile.
So my birthday weekend went something like this once all was said and done (yes it is a weekend long event, which it should be):

Friday: Birthday party with friends. Had a great time. Kaitlyn made me a drink just the way I like it, where I can't taste any alcohol haha. Went home with M. Fun times.

Saturday: Slept in late. Hung out. Went out at midnight to get a drink, but since my ID was technically expired on my birthday (so at midnight) I couldn't get one. Went home. Later found out that I could have used my renewed military ID. Duh.

Sunday: Hung out with M, who took me to an awesome Christmas tree display in Tacoma, and then went to eat with him at The Old Spaghetti Factory. So much yum. Ordered a drink (with same expired ID since I couldn't renew it on Sunday hmmm) it was absolutely gross, and neither M, nor I could finish it. Came home and went to get a tattoo for my mother. Got there at 5, left around 9ish. Kaitlyn sat with me the whole time. I am absolutely in love with it and can't wait to share it with you all! It isn't finished yet, but it will be so amazing when it's done.

And that was it! Birthday weekend. I considered it a success. I got to spend time with friends, my boyfriend, and have some absolutely amazing bonding time with my main lady while I got a work of art put onto my body. Not bad at all.

Love & Sunshine,
Rya Pie
