The Blur of Jetlag

Tuesday, May 27, 2014

I feel so off. It took two six hour flights to get me back home, not to mention layovers, airport waiting time, the bus from Gleann Columb Kille back to Dublin, and a night at a B&B. Travel guys. But it's more than that. All of that together should just leave me tired and jet lagged, which I am, don't get me wrong, but it's more. It's the re-acclimation to Washington, and America in general. It's the lack of breakfast pudding, and going to an "irish" pub trying to find a good fry up and leaving without ordering because you're so disgusted with the leprechauns on the menu and the clovers on the wall. It's the feeling like it didn't even happen because nothing at home really changed while you were gone. Was I even gone? Of course I was, but today I am in a hazy blur, sleep deprived and missing Ireland. Here's what I wore today after being completely overwhelmed by the amount of clothes I have here compared to the limited supply of two months living out of a suitcase.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to be home. Home is awesome. Seeing Michael was one of my happiest moments in life. That boy standing at the airport waiting for me with a sign that he spaced out all wrong that had all but one letter of my last name in one row and a tiny "m" below it. Silly. Him knowing it was me coming down the escalator because of my hideously awesome pants. Getting to burry my face in my cats tummy. Eating mexican food. Sleeping in my bed. Seeing my roommates. Seeing my best friend.

I highly suggest traveling abroad, but really, duh. Does anyone not suggest it? Doubtful. I am already fantasizing my next trip to Ireland with Michael and/or my mother. I will be back some day. For now I think another trip to Arizona is what's in order. I need me some desert sun.

Rya Pie
