Greetings From Our Lake

So this is it! This is where Michael and I have moved to! We're now homeless and live on this dock! Nah, just kidding, but this is on our property and we have complete access to it whenever we want and I think that that's pretty amazing. I've been spotting lots of lake wildlife and it's brining me back to my childhood, which I love. M is pretty pumped to be out here too, which is fantastic because the house is so cute and he's such a city boy that I thought it'd be too out of town for him, but he's actually loving it! I couldn't have asked for anything better. Our land lord, Tony, is the sweetest old man possible as well. We live in a small cottage that used to be part of a super old B&B. There are two other cottages close to us that he also rents out. It's seriously fantastic. I'm just having fun naming all the birds and such. The friendly duck that hops up onto the dock to visit us is named Bill (even though I think it's a girl) and then there's a tiny birdhouse on the end of the dock with two eggs and a very, very tiny baby bird in it, I've named the parents Edward and Edwina. They like to swoop by and check on their baby whenever you're on the dock, or sometimes Edward with just perch nearby and watch you, which is adorable. But that's enough crazy ranting for the day. In short: here's the lake I now get to walk to whenever I want, or even just look at from my kitchen window. It's awesome. Here's some stuff I wore. Also, lilypads.

Looking at these, I really wish that I would have asked Michael to get a closeup of my shorts. I didn't even think of it at the time because I was too caught up in wondering if placing my bracelet on a lilypad would cause it to sink. They're birds though. Little pastel green and yellow birds, which I suppose is beyond appropriate for the turn I chattered this post into. I'm pretty much in love with them, but to me the real star of this outfit is the bracelet. I picked it up from Hot Toddy in downtown Oly when I was browsing for a dress to wear to a wedding I'm going to this weekend. I didn't end up getting a dress, but when my eyes fell on this gem I knew I had to have it. It's made out of vintage buttons, and it took me straight back to my mother, because as a kid I had a box of buttons and I'd always look through it with her and it was just a thing we did together. I don't know where the box is now, lost somewhere in one of our moves I'm thinking, but now I have some buttons once again. Needless to say, it was instantly nostalgic.
